Smart Warehouse as a Service – EU-Funded Development Project

Developing a Smart Warehouse Service Concept for SMEs

The Smart Warehouse as a Service project aims to develop a scalable smart warehousing solution tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The goal is to improve the logistics efficiency and competitiveness of SMEs by addressing the growing demand for cost-effective and smart inventory management systems.

As SMEs seek to optimize their logistics operations to meet the challenges of modern business, this project is expected to produce impactful solutions that help companies adapt to market changes and boost their competitiveness. The solution brings the benefits of modern technology—traditionally only available to large corporations—into the hands of SMEs.

Project duration: June 1, 2024 – February 28, 2026
This project is co-funded by the European Union.

Project Phases and Expected Results

The development path of the project is divided into three main stages:

1. Service Design

At the heart of this phase is a deep understanding of customer needs. The focus is on usability and ease of service. Feedback is collected from a defined target group of SMEs, and the solution is adapted based on their input. This phase includes workshops to visualize the solution and validate the proposed concept.
Objective: Define a customer-centric service model tailored to SME requirements.

2. Product Development

This stage covers the technical design and implementation of the smart warehouse solution. The developed prototype is tested with selected customer groups. Flexibility is a key principle, enabling the solution to be adapted to a wide range of company needs.

3. Product Validation

In the testing and piloting phase, the functionality of the solution is verified in real-life usage environments. Real user experiences ensure that the product meets customer expectations and delivers measurable benefits to their operations.

To date, the project has identified key SME needs and developed a working prototype ready for field testing. SMEs have already noted the flexibility of the solution and its strong potential to streamline their warehouse operations.
